New Adventure...

We found out last week we will be leaving Okinawa soon. Our EFMP reassignment came through and they are relocating us to the states so Keira can get the audiology care she needs. Technically we are only leaving 6 months ahead of schedule but it feels like our time on Okinawa has been cut drastically short. I guess partly because our PCS back stateside is a whirlwind one, typically you have 4 months to prepare.
Though we are excited to start this new chapter in our lives, I can not express how much we will miss Okinawa and the wonderful people we've met here. The past 3 1/2 years here have been great. The people (our awesome neighbors!), food, scenery... a piece of my heart will always remain in Okinawa.

Kindergarten!

Well... we've got ourselves a kindergartener! I can't hardly believe it! Time sure does fly by. Keira's Cochlear Implant was finally approved and authorized and we now have ourselves an implant date! Tricare ended up denying her twice and her Dr had to schedule a peer to peer with United healthcare/Tricare. Everything seems to be on track now though. I'll try to keep on top of updating the blog after the implant to show her progress :) K for Kindergarten! :) Pledge of Allegiance at the flag ceremony

7 months post activation

So we are at almost 7 months post activation with Keira's Cochlear Implant. Since the 3rd mapping her vocalizations and attempted words have grown so much! She now wears both her Neptune and her Naida processors. She still prefers the Neptune but she is much more tolerable of her Naida. She is also wearing her hearing aid with her Cochlear implant more and more. She still doesn't tolerate the hearing aid in the car for long periods but she does great at her toddler class and during speech with the aid. She is becoming more and more aware of music and likes to dance now! :) Her sign vocabulary is steadily growing too as is mine! Just the other day during her toddler class she impressed me so much! They take the kids out one at a time and do a "focus" time which is similar to speech and lasts about 15 minutes. We were reading a book with Keira that had flaps and there was a frog and our specialist was telling her "Jump, jump, jump" & Keira picked up the bo...

Comprehensive

So Saturday evening we went down to Comprehensive park to check it out and see what it was all about. The park has a WHOLE lot to offer! There are TONS of stuff, we only saw about a 1/4 of the park. Peyton got to play her little heart out! As for Tabby, he's still on 6 pills a day. He seems to be getting some of his spunk back...we've got another appointment on Saturday for an ultrasound to check his heart. I went bow crazy and got Peyton this headband. I have other pics I will post later. Playing hard! Loving on Tabby.
